Colors of Spring

Two weeks ago I was walking through New Yorks Central Park. The weather was beautiful, I actually think it may have been in the 70s. I was looking for something to shoot with my camera when I found these little flower blooms, starting to peek out from the ground. I like to think of the little blooms awakening from a long winters slumber. Essentially That’s what they were doing. I really love the color that these flowers give off.

The Watering Holes of of Key West

“I went down to Captain Tony’s to get out of the heat I heard a voice call out to me “son come have a seat,”as sang by Jimmy Buffett.

When down in Key West I went down to the Cap’t Tony’s bar and had a few drinks. Tony’s is very grungy just the way I like it. There is stuff tacked all over the walls including hundreds of women’s brassiere’s, that Tony has hung all over the place like trophies of accomplishment.

The sad thing is Tony passed away a few years ago, and you can still see the pain in the faces of his friends that work at his saloon, when I brought him up. He made a big impact on the people in his life. Key West lost a real gem, when Captain Tony Tarracino died, “the salt of Key West.”

Across the street is where Papa Hemingway used to hang out, so Sloppy Joe’s says. Damn near every bar in the Keys makes the claim that their bar is where Ernest Hemingway hung out. I see two possible answers for these claims, 1 all the bars are full of shit, or 2 Papa was a big alcoholic, maybe he just got around. Though who really cares, true or not its fun to think your actually drinking where the famous writer once sat.

Every year Sloppy Joe holds a Hemingway look alike contest, in honor of the authors birthday. The contest will be held July 19-21 2012. I have honestly never been for this event, but I’ve watched plenty of YouTube videos on it, and it looks like a lot of fun.

Sloppy Joe’s has a great stage for bands to if your into live music scene, I am.

No I didn’t meet Zak Galifianakis, That picture is of my dad getting down with his bad self, on his 50th birthday, at Sloppy Joe’s. So out of all the bars in Key West these two are my favorites to visit when I make the trip down.

Catedral de Puebla

This Cathedral is in Puebla city Mexico, this was the very first place I ever visited in the country.

Hiking Denny Creek

A few months ago when I  was in  Washington, I had the opportunity to go hiking around Snoquaimie pass, at Denny Creek. It was a beautiful hike, the only problem was that I didnt have a video camera only a small digital camera. I was able to get a few little clips and piece them together. So its a little shaky but you can still appreciate the beauty of the creek.

Ocean Therapy

With all the homework I have been up against lately, I’ve needed to clear my head. So I went cruising along the Florida coast. There is something relaxing and therapeutic about the ocean. Here are few shots I took a little south of St Augustine Florida.

Fire in the sky

Its been a few months, since I have been to Washington. Between work, and going to school I’ve not been able to get myself organized with this blog. So for the next few weeks I’m going to do my best to really get my photos on to the blog page for everyone to enjoy. This photo is of the sun setting over the Puget Sound, back in September. I had gotten off the ferry in Edmund, when I noticed how beautiful the sky was setting over the Puget Sound.I couldn’t miss getting a snap shot.

Storm out on the Gulf of Mexico

I spent some time today over on the gulf coast of Florida, I got some walking in, and ate a fantastic lunch of shrimp fondue, and mahi mahi tacos at Crabby Bills. Clearwater is a Beautiful beach white sand and turquoise waters. Today the weather wasn’t the best, but even with a storm rolling in this beach is still beautiful.ImageImage

Pouso Alegre (Nice Stay)

Pouso Alegre (Nice Stay)

For the last week Pouso Alegre, (in English (Nice Stay)has been my home base since I arrived to Brazil, and I thought it would be crazy of me to not say a few words

Here is some geographical home work for everyone. Pousi Alegre is a city and municipality in the southern state Minas Gerais of Brazil. Population is around 127.974. Major points of buisness are food, clothing, pharmaceuticals and glass. As well many national enterprises have there plants here.

I arrived here to Pouso Alegre last Tuesday morning April 13th, since then I’ve had the privilege to meet the staff and student’s at Wizard a English teaching school that my friend Eder works for as a teacher. I was able too participate in a few of the classes and explain to the students how things are compared to Brazil. They had so many questions i felt like a celebrity, everyone wanted to meet me. I heard from all the teachers during the week, the children are asking where is the American we want to see the American. For some of the people in Pouso Alege I was the first foreigner that they have ever met or saw in there life. The children at one point asked me about music and wanted to know which bands that I listened too, by the way they are crazy for Lady GAGA don’t ask me why. I just so happend to have some pictures from a concert in West Palm Beach Florida Buzz Bake Sale on my phone, I thought I was going to be eaten alive by the children, all of them trying to get a peak at the same time! Its great to be able to excite and impact a life with such a little thing as a picture. I’ll never forget that little moment. I just wanted to say thank you too all the staff and students for making me feel so welcome and I hope we all meet again one day. Maybe my Portuguese will be better!

As for night life there are no clubs but Pouso Alegre has quite the selection of bars and restaurants. Not really being a club person I found this perfect for me, it was great just sitting back and enjoying sampling the many styles of Brazilian beers. My two favorites were Skol Beats and Brahma. Also a great bar food that I had the pleasure of trying was bean soup, its more or less beans and spices blended into almost liquid form. Then ate with bread anda spoon.

I know Pouso Algre doesn’t hold much for the normal vacationing tourist such as the citys of Rio and Sao Paulo, but Pouso Alegre holds its own little magic all buy its self that the other major citys could never have, just with its people and the relaxing laid back atmosphere and incredible views from many areas in the city. So if your ever in the area stop inside and tell the Wizard students hello and let them know you read this! And experience the real every day life of Brazil!

Sao Paulo Brazil Crazy Times!

Sao Paulo Brazil Crazy times

Sao Paulo Brazil Crazy times

The Night life and parties of Sao Paulo Brazil are like none other I have ever experienced!

Being my first trip to the country I wanted the full effect of brazilian fun, so my friends showed me it! We arrived Friday night and checked in at the Mercure hotel on Paulista ave the time square of Brazil. I recomend anyone spending time in the city to check it out, It comes with Free breakfast, gym, and swimming pool. Its like a Hostel with a Westin style feel inside for anyone who has stayed at either. Also if you are coming to the city for a cultural event such as museums, Concerts, or theater the Mercure offers discounted rates, check before booking.

The first afternoon we went to the Museu Paulista its the museum of the history of Sao Paulo and how the city started. I front of the museum there a beautiful Gardens and fountains great for runninng or just sitting and enjoying a book. At night we bar hopping and I was able to enjoy my first SKOL the bud light of Brazil but better, its everywhere here. The custom when drinking beer here after opening the first bottle every one has to do a toast and drink together or it will bring you bad luck.

Saturday was a day packed full of insanity. First i went with my friend Alex to Prac Da Luz and Pinacoteca do Estado de Sao Paulo a great art museum At this time they have a exibit

Saturday night I went to the craziest party of my life SKOL SENSATION The sea of White. It was a techno party with over 50 thousand people everyone had to wear white to enter it was the wildest thing ive ever seen lots of fun.

After sleaping of the pain and sin from the night before My friends and I went to Japan town, The second largest Japanese population outside of Japan. its a great place to walk and enjoy little shops where the locals make arts and crafts while enjoying awesome japanese cusine.
